Economic Literacy: A Research on Amasya University
Öz:Economic literacy can be defined as the ability of making judgment and takingeffective decision by individuals, who strive to satisfy the infinite needs with limitedsources. Economic literate individuals can enhance the welfare of the societyand themselves thanks to their accurate and effective decisions. Economic-financialtransactions, which develop and change rapidly during the globalizationprocess, require the consumers to become economic literate at least at basiclevel. Within this context, we aim at determining the economic literacy levels ofstudents studying at Amasya University Vocational School of Social seafoodplus.info would also like to find whether the economic literacy levels of these studentsdiffered significantly in terms of a variety of socio-demographic variables. Thedata is obtained from first-year and second-year students in all of the departmentsthrough questionnaires. Descriptive statistics, factor analysis, correlationanalysis, independent two-sample t-test and one-way variance analysis wereconducted during the analysis of the data. The general economic literacy level is"medium". According to the findings, among the sub-dimensions of economic literacy,the highest and lowest scores were obtained from individual budget planningand economic knowledge, respectively. In the sub-dimension of economicknowledge, the economic literacy levels were higher in male students, studentswith working experience and students studying at department of foreign trade.
