IF CLAUSE TYPE 0

Bu yapıyı; bilimsel gerçekleri, doğa kanunlarını ve her zaman doğru olan şeyleri anlatmak için kullanırız. Yapı genellikle "if + present simple, + present simple" şeklindedir.

• If you heat ice, it turns into water.
• If I don't go to bed early, I usually feel bad tomorrow.
• If you study regularly, you never have problems with your lessons.
• If you provoke a snake, it attacks you.

Eğer her iki cümlede de "simple present tense" kullanılıyorsa o zaman "if" yerine "when" de kullanabiliriz.

IF CLAUSE TYPE 1

Gerçekleşme olasılığı olan durumlar için "type 1 conditional" yapısını kullanırız. Cümle yapısı genellikle "if + present tense, + future tense" şeklindedir.

• If we don't catch the bus, we will be late for school.
• If it rains tomorrow, we will stay in.
• If there is too much smoke in the room, the alarm will ring.
• I will go to concert if I leave work early.

Bu yapıyla birlikte emir cümleleri (imperatives) ve "modals (can, may, must)" da kullanılabilir.

• If you are hungry, make a sandwich.
• Turn off the TV if you don't want to watch it.
• I may come with you If I finish my homework.
• If you need money, I can lend you some.
• If you don't like this hotel, you can stay at another hotel.
• If a dog chases you, sit down and wait.
