It was the Don, which " by Garaw, pr rather by Dancaster, descends to the Tyne. I cannot recommend self-employment enough! The main crops raised at first were spring wheat, oats and corn, with sufficient potatoes for local use; corn next to grass being the most important crop, largely consumed on the farm and shipped out in the shape of cattle, hogs, horses, butter and cream. The Two Brewers Public-house, at the entrance to Fox and Goose Yard, London Wall, destroyed a few weeks after the completion of this drawing, was evidently a very old building.
