During the last period of the Ottoman Empire many problems appeared in political and economic fields; however, this period was highly efficient in terms of increasing the number of the joint-stock companies. In this sense, it was possible to see the joint-stock companies that the national and foreign capital owners established starting from s in the Ottoman Empire. The number of the companies operating in various fields increased as a result of the liberal politics of the second constitutional era, and the efforts to create domestic capital in the period of World War I during which the period of national economy was experienced in parallel with the "Turkism" politics developing after the Balkan Wars accelerated the establishment of national companies. "İttihat ve Terakki" (The Committee of Union and Progress) took a leading part the way for the establishment of national companies, the elders of the society organized the producers, the craftsmen, and the traders and paved the way for the birth of national commerce. Şark Ittihad Cinema and Theater Osmanlı Anonim Şirketi which constituted the subject of the present study was also one of the first initiatives established in this period and operating in the field of cinematography. Main sources of the present research were be Sadaret Divan Agreements, Bâb-ı Âlî Evrak Odası, Dâhiliye Nezareti Emniyet-i Umum Müdüriyeti in the Ottoman Archive of the Prime Ministry including information and regulations about "Şark İttihad Sinema ve Tiyatro Osmanlı Anonim Şirketi" (East Union Cinema and Theatre Ottoman Joint-Stock Company). Moreover, periodicals and other sources including information and comments about the research were also be considered.
